Raised in Kanawha County, Resident of Putnam County, Adopted Son of the Eastern Panhandle!
I have always enjoyed working and helping others. I started out mowing grass for my grandmother in my hometown of Dunbar, West Virginia. Before I knew it, I had a thriving business cutting all of my grandmother's friends grass at the age of 13. When I turned 16, I went to work at "Tom's Food Market" in Dunbar where I worked my way up from bag boy to cashier.
After graduating from Dunbar High School, I attended West Virginia Institute of Technology in Montgomery, West Virginia, where I received my Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering . Upon graduation from Tech, I moved to Rochester, New York where I went to work for Eastman Kodak Company. After 2 years (winters) I moved to Columbia, South Carolina to work for Michelin Tire Corporation. While I was in Columbia, I received my Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of South Carolina.
In January 2000, I was blessed with the opportunity to move back home to West Virginia and go to work for Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Buffalo. My wife Jenny and I live in Hurricane with 2 of our 3 children. In January 2010, we felt the Lord wanting to use us in a greater way as a family. We stood before our church congregation and confessed our desire to be used of God as He saw fit. We felt that we were being called to Africa, at least for a short term mission trip. In preparation for such a trip, we began a ministry through our church to raise funding by helping others with any tasks/chores they need. We do yard work, clean houses, dig ditches, wash cars, clean gutters, pet sit, kid sit......... We have been greatly blessed by the fellowship we have enjoyed with those we have helped. The most enjoyable part of any job I have had has been the people I work with and being able to help them in anyway that I can.
In July 2010, we learned that we were not being called to Africa, but rather we were being called to stay home and begin a campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives. As you might imagine, we have had a variety of responses to our call. It took me 3 months to tell my wife, and when I did, she laughed. My father asked, "why not mayor?" Friends usually respond, "Well, we could use some good, honest folks with morals in Washington." Statements like these keep me very humble. I do not seek the praise of men but simply to be obedient to my heavenly Father.
As your representative in Washington D.C., I will be your contact for any needs you have from "YOUR" Federal Government. My office will help you with passports, medicare, Washington D.C. visits, student aide, veterans affairs, and federal loans. I plan to keep as many of Shelley Moore Capito's current staff as are willing to stay and I would hire any of Senator Rockefeller's office staff being displaced to insure that your needs are met!
