50,000,000 + since 1973
My Thoughts: A child born in 1973 would now be turning 39 in 2012. We live in a country that is missing some 1.2 million 39 year olds, 1.2 million 38 year olds, 1.2 million 37 year olds.... and 1.2 million children in their first year of life - getting ready to celebrate their first birthday. Scientists, Doctors, Engineers, Electricians, Poets, Moms and Dads raising their own children, all of whom would be contributing to society. Put simply, we are missing 50,000,000+ consumers!
At the heart of the matter are broken families - federal government is not going to be able to fix broken hearts/families.
Struggle points as I understand them:
Lack of "Courageous" men in our society. Fathers abandoning families, fathers not supporting their families, boys/girls not being held accountable.
Adoptions are difficult: No support system for birth mothers and they can be costly.
Lack of understanding about what is tissue and what is life.
I Support:
Any law that defines life as beginning at conception. Laws that make adoption simpler and more affordable. Laws that encourage and support family.
I do not have any simple solutions for this topic. Until broken hearts are healed through the saving grace of our loving Lord, we will continue to struggle with unwanted pregnancies.
